Cayman Islands Family Portraits by Melissa Wolfe

Ellen and her family wanted to created lasting memories during their vacation and asked me to capture their Cayman Islands family portraits for them. We chose the hour just before sunset for their Cayman Islands family portrait session as the light is just beautiful around that time of the day. In photography we call it the ‘Golden Hour’ for it’s golden tonality and soft light.

Finding the right location was easy as the family was staying right on Cayman’s famous Seven Mile Beach at the Westin Grand Cayman. Seven Mile is a fantastic location as it is facing the setting sun.

It was a delight to work with Ellen and her family. The children and I had a blast. Especially the little girl and I bonded dancing and twirling down the beach like no-one is watching.

I wish that they will enjoy their Cayman Island Family Portraits for many years to come.

I love spending time on the beach around sunset … the best time for family photos. It is especially if I am allowed to hang out with a smiley baby like this one.

Lyn and her family are regular visitors to the Cayman Islands. In fact they have previously engaged my hubby David and my colleague JJ for family portrait session. I was very pleased to photograph this wonderful family during their latest visit to Grand Cayman.

Susan and her family vacationed on beautiful Seven Mile Beach with the grand parents and ask me to capture some beach memories for them. I love portrait session where we just play and have fun while catching some precious moments.

Every mum I know, including myself, loves photos especially of their loved ones. So we are constantly camera, phone or tablet ready to snap the precious moments. Leaving us behind the lens and not in the image.

Make an effort to exist in photographs for your loved ones to treasure. Giving them a precious memory of you. Hand over that camera and step out in front of the lens. Embrace the moment!

As a dog owner and dog lover, I felt so honoured to be asked to photograph Andrea and her loyal friend Monte. She has a very special bond with the beautiful golden Labrador:

“Monte was given to me after Hurricane Ivan. I never had a dog before and he turned out to be the most amazing dog.  He taught me how to be a dog owner.  He has all the best qualities of a Labrador Retriever and could easily have been a service dog with his intelligence and calm demeanour.  He turned 10 this year and is starting to fade unfortunately.  I thought I was going to lose him in and around the time these photos were taken.  With some good medication and lots of patience, he is hanging in there.   We will treasure these photos forever!”

The family portrait session of Ellen and her family was so much fun! Her little daughter was one of the easiest models to work with.
