I am sorry to break it to you but it isn’t always sunny in Paradise. We do have the odd rainy days which mostly consist of showers … so wait for a few minutes and it’s all over. However it was a little bit more than a shower on Andrea & Shane’s wedding day. Rain on your wedding day is for Good Luck and so these two must be the luckiest couple in the world.
Tavarus and Pilar met in Tampa via mutual friends. The proposal was magnificent… He swept her away to Sedona to a resort called ‘Enchantment’, supposedly on a “work trip”…. Coincidentally, I was at the same Sedona resort months before and can vouch for the deep energy that the canyons and red rock surrounding Enchantment possess. Ideal place for love and commitment.
The trip had absolutely nothing to do with work but become the most magical proposal with a bride that had absolutely no idea. As Pilar can tell you much better in her own words:
“I asked what our plans were for tomorrow and he said that the company arranged for a trip to the Grand Canyon. The next morning we arrive at the airport, and there is a private plane waiting for us to fly us to the Grand Canyon. The trip and scenery was amazing during our flight, we got a mini tour by the pilot..It was breathe taking. On the ground we walked around looking at many landmarks and then we decided to stand on the highest point at The Grand Canyon..called Guano Point..everyone was taking pictures so we waited until the bulk of people were off the rock so we could take some pictures alone. Before I climbed up the rock, I found a family and asked if they could take some photos of us while on this rock. Tavarus then also asked if they would video tape it for us. They said of course. So, I climbed up first on the rock and as I turned around to help Tavarus up, he was on his knees and I heard music playing from his iPod..it was the Band Of Monsters And Men, song From Finner. Still having no clue what was going on..I said to him “What are you doing on your knees, stand up”.. He looked at me and I saw him reach in his pocket and he pulled out the ring..I covered my month and just started weeping in happiness and said YES of course and everyone around was clapping and cherring for us and we hugged and embraced each other for the longest while. It was just the most amazing moment other than exchanging our vows, that I had ever experience. So with all that..he proposed at The Grand Canyon and it was never a company trip..He planned the entire weekend all himself.”
Their wedding day was as magnificent by the blue waters of Grand Cayman. Pilar looked incredibly stunning in her gown next to an equally handsome Tavarus as they danced the night away under the Caribbean stars.

I love all the details of Brachla and Keith’s wedding beautifully orchestrated by their wedding planners Parfait Cayman. Brachla’s hair and dress were stunning and the gentlemen look thoroughly handsome with their lime bow ties. The Villas of the Galleon was the perfect setting for their island wedding followed by culinary delights from Mise En Place at their reception right on Seven Mile Beach.

The National Trust held its 2nd annual “Hatitude with Gratitude” gala recently at one of Cayman’s iconic historic sites, Pedro St. James. Guests were invited to light up the lawn in their beautiful hats, contributing to a ‘day at the races’ atmosphere and raising funds for benefit of the National Trust’s important educational work which teaches thousands of students the importance of environmental conservation and historic preservation.
A beautiful event full of grace and elegance for a worthy cause.
Susan and her family vacationed on beautiful Seven Mile Beach with the grand parents and ask me to capture some beach memories for them. I love portrait session where we just play and have fun while catching some precious moments.
Kelcey and Jordan selected The Westin Grand Cayman Beach Resort for their intimate wedding amongst family and friends.
Kelcey’s vintage inspired wedding dress and hairpiece looked absolutely stunning for their Cayman beach wedding. I love that both didn’t mind getting a little bit wet … well, a lot actually. It was certainly worth it. Judge for yourselves!
The Cayman Islands Fashion now in it’s 5th year is a huge draw for local and international designer. The event is getting bigger and better and was hosted this year by international celebrities Fashion Photographer Nigel Barker and Cayman’s very own Grace Gealey, star of the TV Show ‘Empire’.
It was also the launch for Cayman’s new TV Show ‘Beyond the Red Carpet’ hosted by Pearlina.
I had the honour to photograph Pearlina on the Red Carpet with her fabulous co-hosts and guests. What a stylish crowd!
If you have missed the show follow this link to view the whole show. It’s fabulous!
Every mum I know, including myself, loves photos especially of their loved ones. So we are constantly camera, phone or tablet ready to snap the precious moments. Leaving us behind the lens and not in the image.
Make an effort to exist in photographs for your loved ones to treasure. Giving them a precious memory of you. Hand over that camera and step out in front of the lens. Embrace the moment!
Photographing fellow photographer Michelle and her family was such a pleasure.
